More Freakin' Resolutions for '08

Amy Piazza
January 8 2008

So here it is Janurary 8th 2008. I don't think I'm recovered from the holiday party session that lasted about 3 weeks. My kidneys and liver aren't sure what to do with this sudden mid-week lack of alcohol.

My resolutions for the new year are as follows:

  1. Blog on this site more
  2. Get the CMS on this site working so it won't take so much of my time to blog more
  3. Lose weight
  4. Drink less
  5. Stay home more
  6. Eat more fish
  7. And in general, get my shit together

That's a lot. I should really focus on just one or two, but all of these seem to be important to me this week.

The blogging ones are really so I can have a hobby besides eating and drinking - tho working on computers all day makes it hard for me to spend my free time there as well. Of course to lose weight, I'd have to move away from my desk. There's problem #1.

Drinking less is easy until someone calls and asks about our plans for the evening. That also ruins any chance of staying home. I suppose that's problem #2 (damn those social friends we have).

The fish thing is going to last about three weeks - I like fish and all, but after three meals a week of it, I'm going to be tired of it. This week is was swordfish kabobs, shrimp scampi, and baked tilapia with tomatoes, capers and asparagus. All are very different, but I miss pork chops already.

And I've been trying to get my shit together for years - I should really just stop writing that one in each year and give up. I should replace it with an equally unlikely resolution like "go on lengthy honeymoon to an exotic location." Like that's ever going to happen!

Anyway...I suppose I should resolve to do the best I can whenever possible, go with the flow unless it's over a cliff, and learn to stress less about the little things like eating fish three times a week or having more than two glasses of wine in a night.

Happy New Year!
