Chianti (Sangiovese) from Tuscany Italy
An excellent Chianti. It starts out nice and light then ends with a little bit of spice and heat. Smells like fruit and spice - perfect for these days when the temperature is below 90!
This is a ruby red wine. One good rule to follow with wine and food is to pair regional foods with wine from the same area. That said...this goes great with northern italian dishes. Antipasti, sausage and pasta and any light red sauce with or without meatballs. Think parmesan and prosciutto from Parma as well as risotto with mushrooms. Of course - on a cool night it's kind of nice by itself.
